Trent S: A couple of years ago we did a whole performance management philosophy shift. We went through and did the development right before we went through the process. We helped people understand: What's a comp ratio? What does that mean? How does that connect to the market? We really tried to help them understand it.
Trent S: Then they went through the cycle. And it was like, "Oh, I'm starting to see how all these pieces fit." I think that's the key. How do you connect the development –the capability you're trying to build – to the work that they're doing, so that they connect dots. I think that makes a huge difference.
