Hispanic Heritage Month (9/15-10/15)
Observed annually from September 15 to October 15, Hispanic Heritage Month recognizes the contributions and diverse cultures of the American-Latino community. Celebrations often include festivals, art shows, conferences and community gatherings. Hispanic Heritage Month also celebrates the independence days of several Latin American countries.
National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month is an opportunity to end the stigma surrounding mental health for those struggling with suicidal thoughts. Employers can create a supportive and productive environment for all employees by prioritizing mental health in the workplace.
Here are some ways you can support employees during National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month:
- Offer employee assistance programs (EAPs) to provide employees with confidential counseling and mental health support services.
- Provide training and education on mental health awareness.
- Create a culture of openness and acceptance around mental health issues.

National Recovery Month is an annual observance to increase mental health and addiction recovery awareness. This holiday is an opportunity to promote evidence-based treatment and recovery practices while recognizing the efforts of service providers and communities who support recovery. National Preparedness Month
This month raises awareness about the importance of being ready for disasters and emergencies. In 2024, the focus is on Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities. This is a great time to host emergency preparedness workshops, distribute safety checklists or organize drills to ensure everyone knows how to respond in a crisis.
Self-Improvement Month

National Payroll Week
Celebrate that awesome "we just got paid" feeling! This week honors both the hardworking employees across America and the payroll pros who make sure our paychecks are spot on. This holiday honors the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). It's a time for reflection, prayers and community gatherings in many Islamic countries. 401(k) Day

Navratri, starting on the first day of the Hindu month of Ashwin, is all about celebrating the divine energy of Goddess Durga over nine nights! Each day is dedicated to a different form of the Goddess, with rituals like fasting, chanting, and dancing the night away in Garba and Dandiya sessions. World Car-Free Day
World Car-Free Day is celebrated in cities worldwide, encouraging walking and cycling instead of driving for a day. Before World Car-Free Day, consider encouraging your team to explore alternative transportation methods that could reduce their carbon footprints.
American Business Women's Day
September 22 is the founding date of the American Business Women's Association, which aims to bring together women of diverse occupations and provide them with opportunities to grow personally and professionally. American Business Women’s Day commemorates the contributions of more than 68 million American working women and 7.7 million women business owners and serves to celebrate their achievements.
Autumnal Equinox
The Autumnal Equinox is the official start of fall, when day and night are perfectly balanced as the Sun crosses the equator. In the Northern Hemisphere, it lands annually around September 22 or 23, marking the end of summer’s heat and the beginning of cozy sweater weather! Workplaces can celebrate with a hot cider bar or a cozy fall-themed decor day—let’s welcome those crisp autumn vibes!

International Week of the Deaf
International Week of the Deaf is an annual celebration held on the last week of September to commemorate the first World Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD). This week is dedicated to raising awareness about the Deaf Community and promoting their human rights. The goal is to unite and advocate for the needs of the Deaf Community through coordinated global mobilization and media coverage.

Rosh Hashanah*
Rosh Hashanah, from sundown on Wednesday, September 22 to sundown on Friday, September 24, is the Jewish New Year and the holiday that begins the 10 days of introspection and repentance known as the Days of Awe. Rosh Hashanah is one of the two High Holy Days in the Jewish religion.
Celebrate Bisexuality Day
Bi Visibility Day, also known as International Celebrate Bisexuality Day, was started by bi activists from the U.S. in 1999, and the holiday has since spread to more than 30 countries.
National Voter Registration Day
National Voter Registration Day is the fourth Tuesday of September, making it a perfect time to ensure you're ready to vote! U.S. Census data from 2020 shows that 25% of eligible Americans are not registered to vote. National Voter Registration Day is a nonpartisan holiday to create awareness of voter registration opportunities. More than 5 million voters have registered to vote on this day since its inception in 2012.
On September 24, join the push to get as many people registered as possible. Workplaces can observe by hosting voter registration drives, sharing information on how to register and encouraging employees to check their voter status. Let's all get involved and make sure everyone's voice is heard!

Native American Heritage Day (CA & NV)
While most of the U.S. recognizes Native American Heritage Day in November, California and Nevada observe the holiday in September. This day reminds us to recognize and celebrate our indigenous people's diverse cultures and contributions.
